Unexpected PIP: what should I record first?

A performance process becomes easier to navigate when the concerns, measures, evidence, support and dates are explicit.

Capture the stated concerns

Record the exact concerns rather than paraphrasing them into a broader judgement about your performance.

Pin down the measures

For each concern, ask what successful performance looks like, how it will be measured and when it will be reviewed.

Keep the evidence spine

Retain relevant feedback, objectives, work examples and prior reviews you are entitled to keep. Organise the strongest items rather than collecting everything.

Record support and changes

Note training, resources, workload constraints and any later change to objectives or deadlines.

Do not diagnose the whole situation from one article.
